Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
