Suspected Harasser Inquired: 'But What If I Could Be Madeleine?'
A female charged with stalking Kate McCann reportedly recorded her a voicemail message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, 24, who a jury heard has persistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.
On Monday, the court was told call records and data obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over that period.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most widely reported child disappearance cases and continues to be open.
'I Do Not Need Money'
One phone message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I realize I'm fat and plain like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I know."
While one recording of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's answerphone stated: "What if there is a slight possibility that I am she? Then what? Wouldn't that be significant for you?"
"I do not need money, I maintain a existence here in Poland, I only wish to understand," she added.
The jury was told that by means of electronic messages, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, sent early photographs to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a early life with the McCanns.
The investigator, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who gathered the evidence, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the period preceding the visit to the village, Leicestershire, in December 2024.
The court heard correspondence between the two defendants, in last November, planning trying to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from utensils at a restaurant.
