Fans looking forward to the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait much longer. An highly anticipated trial experience will go live on January 7th, providing a substantial look into the game's initial chapters. Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined represents a comprehensive reimagining of the iconic year 2000 JRPG, originally released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a significant step away from recent series re-releases, like the recently released HD-2D iterations, this version embraces a charming 3D visual presentation. Environments appear to evoke intricate miniature worlds, with party members featuring a whimsical chibi-esque look.

"Taking into account the previous port, the story was still exceptionally long. Therefore, we reached a decision that we wanted to condense the story, [and] make this adventure for today's gamers."

Significant Mechanical Changes & Modernizations

Square Enix has introduced numerous modernizations to streamline the original experience. These include:

• Streamlined Overworld Battles: Taking a cue from modern RPGs, low-level monsters can now be dispatched instantly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for initiating a separate traditional combat screen.
• Adjustable Combat Speed: Gamers can speed up combat animations to rapidly power through simpler encounters.
• New Job System: One brand new job class has been created for this remake. Additionally, characters now have the ability to master a secondary job, greatly enhancing strategic options.

These changes seek to mitigate a key the 2000 title's most noted criticisms: its considerable length. That initial main quest was known to take more than 100 hours to finish. The new edition has been expressly designed to enhance pacing and reduce any repetition.
