Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with committing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences include:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
